What is Inspiration Point Studio (IPS)?

IPS is our virtual outdoor studio. The name is derived from two of our favorite hobbies, hiking in national parks and taking pictures. US National Parks like to name some of  their most popular scenic lookouts “Inspiration Point.” Combining that name with the activities in a photography studio gives the image of a virtual outdoor studio.

Our goal for this site is to document as many of our favorite trips as possible, sharing with you some of our best hiking moments. Most visitors to national parks spend only a day or two at the park; the majority of them stay on the main road, stopping at the occasional lookout points. On the other hand, we tend to trek off the beaten path, wake up early at 5 AM to wait for the sunrise, stay out there a bit longer to enjoy the golden sunset. We’ll share the pictures of those magic moments with you. We’ll also tell you some adventure stories, like the time we came across a mother black bear and its two cubs at Sequoia National Park, just a couple of hundred feet away.

Finally, you’ll also find advance photography tips on this site. We are semi pros (we have even more rewarding full time jobs), with specialties in floral and landscape photography. Following our passion have gained us experience along the way, and we would like to share it with you. We plan on adding to this site over time, so come back to visit if you like what you see.
